The Ultimate Guide to PAN Card Image & PDF Formatting

Applying for a new PAN card or updating existing details online can be incredibly frustrating when you reach the document upload stage. The official portals—UTIITSL and NSDL (Protean)—have extremely strict guidelines regarding the dimensions, DPI (Dots Per Inch), and KB size of your passport photo, signature, and supporting documents. If your files do not match these exact specifications, the portal will immediately reject your application.

We built this PAN Card Resizer to eliminate that headache. Instead of struggling with complex photo editing software, you can simply select the portal you are applying through, drop your files into the respective boxes above, and our tool will automatically format them to meet the government's exact technical requirements.

Official Formatting Requirements Explained

The rules differ slightly depending on whether you are using the UTI or the NSDL portal. Our tool has been pre-programmed with the following official standards:

  • UTIITSL Photograph: Must be exactly 213 x 213 pixels, scanned at 300 DPI, and the file size must be under 30 KB.
  • UTIITSL Signature: Must be exactly 400 x 200 pixels, scanned at 600 DPI, have a plain white background, and be under 60 KB.
  • NSDL (Protean) Photograph: Must be 213 x 213 pixels, scanned at 200 DPI, and under 50 KB.
  • NSDL (Protean) Signature: Must be 400 x 200 pixels, scanned at 200 DPI, and under 50 KB.
  • Supporting Documents (Both Portals): Must be uploaded as a PDF. UTI allows a maximum file size of 2 MB, while NSDL strictly limits PDFs to a maximum of 300 KB. Both recommend an A4 page layout scanned at 200 DPI.

Your Privacy is Our Priority: 100% Local Processing

Your photograph, signature, and Pan card & ID are highly sensitive personal documents. A major security risk with free online resizing tools is that they require you to upload your files to their remote servers to process the changes.

ImageFix Hub does not upload your files. By utilizing advanced browser technologies (like HTML5 Canvas and local PDF libraries), all the cropping, resizing, DPI adjustments, and compression happen entirely on your own device—whether you are using a smartphone or a desktop computer. Once you close this tab, your data is gone. It is never stored, viewed, or transmitted over the internet, ensuring complete protection against identity theft.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the portal saying my signature is "not proper"?
This usually happens if the aspect ratio is wrong or the background isn't completely white. Our signature tool forces the aspect ratio to 400x200 and automatically ensures a white background fill behind your signature to prevent rejection.

How does the PDF document compressor work?
When you upload an ID proof (like a PDF) into our Document Resizer, the tool locally renders the document, sets the correct 200 DPI scaling, and then recompresses the PDF to ensure it falls strictly under the 300 KB (NSDL) or 2 MB (UTI) limits while remaining perfectly readable.
